May is mental health awareness
What do you think of when someone says mental health? Do you think of a person who's out of control or is crazily dressed with wild hair babbling to themselves, or a padded room and a straight jacke or what they show in a movie? If you think of these things you wouldn't be wrong but let's face it mental health is more than all this! People who deal with mental health are humans but most importantly God loves them just as much as He loves you 🫵 sometimes people go through traumatic situations or their hormones are off balance or dealing with thyroid issues or have had head trauma or have sleep problems or have done drugs and alcohol and a million other things that can cause changes to the brain which in turn can cause mental illness. They shouldn't be made to feel bad about something they have no control over and they definitely shouldn't be bullied over it. If taking meds help then so be it. Who's place is it anyways to judge? Certainly not ours and God loves all of us that He sent His son Jesus to die for us. Do you know that mental health is one of the hardest issues to talk about. That 46% of people who commit suicide had a mental illness. That percentage is even higher the CDC says. Most people don't report their issues / symptoms and some go untreated for years because there's such a stigma behind mental illness. Then you have the cutters. They cut for many reasons. All this is preventable but because people get bullied, told to suck it up, that they don't believe enough and a million other negative things that people have said they keep their mouths shut. What is wrong with us as humans? When did we become an I society? When did we stop caring and having empathy for people? Maybe if we stop judging and start listening and trying to understand we could change the statistics. Our way of thinking needs to change. We don't say negative things to people who have broken bones so why is it okay to say that to someone who has a broken brain? I know first hand how hard it is. I have family, friends and myself who deal with this. It can be very devastating. I think and it's just my opinion that's why so many people self-medicate with alcohol, drugs, sex, spending to much and cutting and the list goes on. If you are reading this I encourage you to read about, study, educate yourself on this topic. Have more understanding and patience with people. We can change how people view mental illness if we all just come together and instead of judging and being negative we show love. If anyone should need someone to talk to or just sit with please know you can reach out to me. I am here for you and I love you. God also loves you. Never feel like your alone. God Bless You All 🙏
